Abdul’s Story

Abdul Rahman - 14 years old - Pakistan

A Determined Young Dreamer Facing Hardship

At just 14 years old, Abdul Rahman carries the weight of responsibility far beyond his years. His father, whom he lovingly calls Abbu, has passed away, leaving the family in financial hardship. With no steady source of income, Abdul finds himself torn between two worlds - his deep desire to pursue an education and the harsh reality of needing to work just to afford to feed his family.

There would be times we wouldn’t eat for up to 7 days. We would just sit there starving.” Abdul shares, recalling the hardships his family faces.

For this reason, l had to find this job at the factory, but my earnings are not enough to cover school expenses.”

Abdul’s ambition burns brightly despite his circumstances. He dreams of not just completing his education but reaching the highest level - he wants to obtain a doctorate and secure a job that will change his family’s future. However, the barriers he faces are daunting. Teachers request fees his family cannot afford, and the cost of books remains out of reach.

“I want to study. I want to go to school,"  he says with conviction. “But the circumstances are bad, and we have no money.”

Each day, Abdul juggles work and studies, striving to hold onto the hope that education will one day lift him out of this struggle. His story is one of resilience, a reminder that behind every orphaned child in need is a young person with dreams waiting to be realised.

With the right support, Abdul’s future doesn’t have to be defined by hardship. It can be shaped by opportunity.
