“Say, “My prayer, my offering, my life and my death are for Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.”
Al-An’am 6:162
Qurbani, like other acts of worship, requires purity of intention on behalf of the believers. In light of the above verse, righteous deeds should be performed solely for the sake of Allah (SWT). A study of the Prophet’s (SAW) life contains clear guidelines on the injunctions of the faith, including an accepted Qurbani.
A Prophetic Qurbani is the sacrifice made by the Prophet (SAW) at his time. In the present context, Prophetic Qurbani implies an additional Qurbani offered by a believer in addition to the sacrifice done on his own behalf. Examples from the Sunnah further clarify the Prophetic Qurbani meaning.
It is reported that the Prophet (SAW) offered Qurbani every year during his time in Madina. Furthermore, he used to sacrifice two animals – one on behalf of himself and his family and the other on behalf of the Ummah. During his pilgrimage of Hajj, the Prophet (SAW) is reported to have sacrificed 100 camels, 63 with his own hands and the rest designated to Ali (RA).
The believers are also encouraged to follow the illustrious Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW) in their practice of Qurbani. By offering an additional Qurbani, you will earn the reward of reviving the Prophet’s (SAW) Sunnah. Avail the opportunity to double your rewards and feed more hungry people in areas suffering from food scarcity.
A Prophetic Qurbani takes inspiration from the Prophet’s (SAW) practice. An additional Qurbani gives believers an opportunity to help as many people as possible. It means feeding twice as many orphans and widows during the days of Eid al-Adha and beyond. A Prophetic Qurbani is a valuable gift that keeps on giving!
With support from our generous donors, we delivered over ONE MILLION Qurbani meals last year in more than 10 countries worldwide, including Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir.
Orphans in Need has facilitated the act of giving an additional Qurbani. Offer another Qurbani for just £25 and honour the Prophet’s (SAW) example. Allah (SWT) commands the believers in the Quran to follow the Prophet (SAW) in all matters.
“Say (O Prophet): ‘If you really love Allah, then follow me, and Allah shall love you and forgive you your sins. Allah is Most-Forgiving, Very-Merciful’.”
Al-Quran 3:31
This is a matter of disagreement amongst Muslim scholars. Some scholars state that it is permissible and even recommended to offer a sacrifice on behalf of the Prophet (SAW). Whereas the other group maintains that this is not permissible because there is not sufficient evidence for this from the lives of majority of companions.
However, it is commendable to follow the example of the Prophet (SAW) and offer an additional Qurbani.
Orphans in Need promises to carry out your additional Qurbani according to Islamic principles. Our teams work hard to look for animals that are healthy and well looked-after. We will deliver the fresh meat over the days of Eid, so orphan and widow families can enjoy the festivities with the rest of the Ummah.
Donate your Qurbani to Orphans in Need this year and alleviate the hunger of vulnerable individuals around the world.
